It's very important that propane tanks be stored upright and in a properly ventilated area.

Additional Storage Tips: Never store the Gas Growler or other propane containers in your living area or in a storage area that is directly attached to your living area. A shed or garage, provided it has adequate ventilation, is an ideal place for propane storage. It is also OK to store your Gas Growler outdoors in any covered location.

Propane containers should only be stored in vehicles with a vented storage locker; do not store the Gas Growler or other propane container in your trunk or sealed car.

Yes! We now offer our Growler Case & Hose Kit for sale for folks that already have a 5 lb tank. Please do keep in mind that our cases are designed specifically to fit Ignik's Gas Growler, and only fit a small portion of the wide variety of 5 lb propane tanks out there. If you have a different tank, we recommend you reach out to us and let us know which tank you have so we can help make sure that our case is a good fit for you. Already have one of our Gas Growlers with a 4' adapter hose and just want the case? Contact us and we'll be happy to sell you a separate case.

Yes! We purge every tank at the factory prior to shipping. When it's time to fill up, your local propane filler should be able to put 1.1 to 1.3 gallons of propane in each tank, depending on their pressure settings. It helps a lot if you tell the filling attendant that is how much your tank needs, as overfilling the tank can lead to suboptimal performance.

I love it!

This growler was best investment I made this year. Saving lots money now that I don't have to buy those single use green bottles. Thinking about buying one more. I recommend this growler to everyone.

Great size and less waste

Not sure why others had so much trouble with the fill. Went to our local Big R (that does propane fill, not exchange). Handed it to the tech, didn't bat an eye. Paid 5 minutes later. Tech filled 1gal, $3.49. I weighed it after and it was around 4lb so they didn't quite do the full claimed capacity but it was plenty for our needs. Almost 1/7th the cost of 4 green cans - seems like it should recoup the cost fast at that rate.

No issues connecting it to our stove and its nice to have the extra counter surface without a green can in the way. Its a decent size, but honestly doesn't feel like it takes up much more space than our usual 2 green cans that we had always carried anyway. Plus it looks way cooler!

Best Thing Ever!

I bought my 5lb gas growler from REI. I have had it for about two years now and have had zero difficulty finding a place to fill it. I take it to my local hardware store or gas station to get it filled. It’s no different than getting my 20lb tank filled.

Don’t buy!

Also bought this from REI and can not fill it. It’s useless. Only took 3 hours of going back and forth to determine this product is a waste of money. REI has pulled this from their shelves and website because of how terribly designed it is. Don’t even bother with Ignik and buy from a reputable company

Hard to fill anywhere.

I had to try multiple propane dealers before I found someone to fill it. I was told it holds 1.5 lbs of propane, so ready to use now. Only giving 4 stars as it is a PIA to find a place that will fill it.
