It's very important that propane tanks be stored upright and in a properly ventilated area.

Additional Storage Tips: Never store the Gas Growler or other propane containers in your living area or in a storage area that is directly attached to your living area. A shed or garage, provided it has adequate ventilation, is an ideal place for propane storage. It is also OK to store your Gas Growler outdoors in any covered location.

Propane containers should only be stored in vehicles with a vented storage locker; do not store the Gas Growler or other propane container in your trunk or sealed car.

Yes! We now offer our Growler Case & Hose Kit for sale for folks that already have a 5 lb tank. Please do keep in mind that our cases are designed specifically to fit Ignik's Gas Growler, and only fit a small portion of the wide variety of 5 lb propane tanks out there. If you have a different tank, we recommend you reach out to us and let us know which tank you have so we can help make sure that our case is a good fit for you. Already have one of our Gas Growlers with a 4' adapter hose and just want the case? Contact us and we'll be happy to sell you a separate case.

Yes! We purge every tank at the factory prior to shipping. When it's time to fill up, your local propane filler should be able to put 1.1 to 1.3 gallons of propane in each tank, depending on their pressure settings. It helps a lot if you tell the filling attendant that is how much your tank needs, as overfilling the tank can lead to suboptimal performance.

This growler was best investment I made this year. Saving lots money now that I don't have to buy those single use green bottles. Thinking about buying one more. I recommend this growler to everyone.

Ignik Propane Tank : DO NOT BUY

These cannot be easily refilled. They have a poorly designed safety trigger which renders them un-fillable. The worst part of this product is Ignik knows it is an issue and continues to sell these doorstops. They should offer a 100% refund no questions asked. Instead they have you jump through hoops. Not worth the hassle. I suggest you buy a Flame King or Worthington brand tank

A little pricey, but very convenient size to carry. No issues filling

Got this for an upcoming week long camping trip, planning on using for my gas grill and possibly dual fuel generator. Seems a bit pricey for what it is, but got it on sale to soften the blow. I had no issues having this filled. I did print out the instructions on REI's description for first-time filling, but the guy at the shop said that should be common knowledge for any filling station. It cost me a little over $7 to fill (NY) and 2 of the green cans are going for $10 at my local Home Depot.

Great, Convenient, Cool Looking! But was not vacuumed properly/at all...

Purchased it brand new days before my family and I's camping trip. Knowing it needed to get filled, I planned to the morning of said camping trip. I go to my local Uhaul propane station and the gentleman attempts 2-3 times with no luck and says it might have never been vacuumed from the manufacturer. Thankfully I was local to where it was purchased, but an inconvenience to return/exchange hoping the same issue wouldn't occur again. Returned to the refill station and thankfully the replacement was vacuumed and had not issues refilling.

Cool product but....

What is the trick to filling the 5 gal tank? I have tried to fill two different brand new units at two different filling stations with no luck. Filling stations are baffled. Purchased at REI and returned first unit. REI is aware of this issue as well. Bummer as I need tank filled ASAP for up coming trip.
